چکیده

We describe the use of a CT-based method of cerebral perfusion imaging, dynamic CT perfusion imaging, for the pre- and postprocedural assessment of cerebral blood flow in a patient with symptomatic middle cerebral artery occlusive disease who underwent balloon angioplasty with stent placement in the affected artery. Dynamic CT perfusion imaging represents a widely available and minimally invasive alternative to other available methods of cerebral perfusion imaging.

Role of Multimodal Evaluation of Cerebral Hemodynamics in Selecting Patients with Symptomatic Carotid or Middle Cerebral Artery Steno-occlusive Disease for Revascularization.

BACKGROUND The circle of Willis provides collateral pathways to perfuse the affected vascular territories in patients with severe stenoocclusive disease of major arteries. The collateral perfusion may become insufficient in certain physiological circumstances due to failed vasodilatory reserve and intracranial steal phenomenon, so-called 'Reversed-Robinhood syndrome'. We evaluated cerebral hemo...

Correlative assessment of hemodynamic parameters obtained with T2*-weighted perfusion MR imaging and SPECT in symptomatic carotid artery occlusion.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Perfusion MR imaging and single-photon emission CT (SPECT) are commonly used to evaluate hemodynamic status in patients with symptomatic occlusive cerebrovascular disease. These techniques rely on different underlying physiological mechanisms, and the data may not correspond. We studied the relationship between hemodynamic parameters obtained with these two methods. MET...

Dynamic CT perfusion imaging with acetazolamide challenge for evaluation of patients with unilateral cerebrovascular steno-occlusive disease.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Perfusion CT (PCT) has the ability to measure quantitative values and produce maps of cerebral blood flow (CBF), cerebral blood volume (CBV), and mean transit time (MTT). We assessed cerebral hemodynamics by using these parameters and acetazolamide challenge in patients with cerebrovascular steno-occlusive disease. METHODS Fifteen patients underwent PCT with acetazolami...

Pre- and Post-Angioplasty Perfusion CT with Acetazolamide Challenge in Patients with Unilateral Cerebrovascular Stenotic Disease

OBJECTIVE Perfusion computed tomography (PCT) has the ability to measure quantitative value and produce maps of mean transit time (MTT), cerebral blood flow (CBF), and cerebral blood volume (CBV). We assessed cerebral hemodynamics by using these parameters and acetazolamide (ACZ) challenge for pre- and post-procedural evaluation in patients with unilateral cerebrovascular stenotic disease. ME...

Quantitative assessment of cerebral hemodynamics using perfusion-weighted MRI in patients with major cerebral artery occlusive disease: comparison with positron emission tomography.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR) to acetazolamide is a key parameter in determining the severity of hemodynamic impairment in patients with major cerebral artery occlusive disease. Perfusion-weighted MRI (PW MRI) can measure the cerebral blood volume (CBV) as an indicator of hemodynamic impairment. CBV measured by PW MRI was compared with CVR measured by positron emission...
